Josh Shapin, CPA, TEP is a Tax Senior Manager in Anchin’s Tax Department and a member of the firm’s Private Client Group. He advises high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held entities on a broad range of tax planning and compliance matters. His areas of focus include gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, as well as income tax strategies for trusts, estates, individuals, and philanthropic organizations.
Josh also has significant experience with complex international tax matters, including foreign grantor and non-grantor trusts with U.S. beneficiaries, foreign estates with U.S. heirs, and non-U.S. decedents with U.S. assets, among many others.
In addition to his client-facing responsibilities, Josh serves as an inter-office liaison for Anchin’s private client tax team, helping to optimize efficiency and communication between offices. In cooperation with the firm’s IT and cybersecurity teams, Josh also champions new software and technological initiatives, helping the group implement new, safe practices to improve processes and increase efficiency. He is deeply involved in internal training and staff development initiatives, and has authored several articles for the firm’s private client newsletter, “The Center.”
Josh is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), and STEP.
