Tax Operations Manager
Anchin’s Tax Operations Manager is a new position within the Firm that will be responsible for overseeing the execution and management of day-to-day operations of the Department with focus on effectiveness and efficiency. In collaboration with key stakeholders in Tax, as well as the other Firm Leads (Human Resources, Finance, Learning & Development, and Information Technology), the Tax Operation Manager will identify needs, implement and maintain efficient and effective support processes & tools for the department, and take direction/execute on Department and Firm projects. It is a mix of hands-on, front-line activities and oversight.
The position is located out of our NYC office. We are happy to offer a permanent hybrid work arrangement. Ideally, the Tax Operations Manager would be in our NYC office 2 – 3 days/week.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight of Tax Department day to day processes and procedures to ensure regulatory timelines are adhered to and proper controls are in place
- Proactively identify and solve problems by interpreting, establishing, recommending, and executing solutions
- Monitoring tax operations outsourced and off-shored processes to ensure services are delivered as expected
- Management, implementation and documentation of Department processes and procedures
- Continuous execution and improvement of department processes, focusing on standardization, effectiveness, experience, and efficiency
- Assist in building department standardization and documentation:
- Actively build relationships and work closely with key stakeholders including IT, Facilities Manager, HR
- Responsible for W-2, PTIN and 1099 preparation processes, oversight of tax library
- Will be primary contact for various filing authority and department software logon registrations and maintain key department vendor relationships (software, etc.)
- Collaborate with key Tax Department team members across industries to ensure all department forms, best practices and tax checklists are kept up to date
- Interface with robotic processing team to review and implement various robotic process automation initiatives
- Run key reports as requested to assist in tracking department metrics and KPIs
- Work with Learning & Development to support the Tax Department’s professional development program
- Promote Firm’s Core Values through day-to-day operations
- Assist in driving Firm initiatives through the department and work with existing tax department employee base to further improve and enhance their employee experience
Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Tax Operations, or experience working in a Tax Department at a CPA Firm is required
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of related project management and/or operations experience
- Three or more years of team management, or related experience preferred
- Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining tax processes preferred
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and reporting metrics preferred
Helpful Knowledge, but not required:
- Knowledge and use of tax research programs and technology (CCH Axcess, documentation management system, workflow management system, time entry system)

On-Campus Recruitment
At Anchin, we recruit most of our entry-level professionals directly from colleges. We participate in the on-campus recruiting programs of several northeastern colleges to find top candidates for our entry-level positions. If you are an undergraduate or graduate accounting major looking to jump start your professional career, we’d love to see you at your school’s career fairs and on-campus interviews. We visit schools in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Maryland each fall. To find out if Anchin will be at your school’s recruiting events this year, contact your school’s career center.
We typically attend career fairs in September and October and schedule our on-campus interviews shortly afterward. Students who interview with us successfully on campus will be invited to a second round of interviews. The second round interviews will give students an opportunity to meet with partners, management and professionals who will be able to share their experience with Anchin and answer students’ questions about the firm, education and careers in public accounting.
We generally interview students in their final year of college and who will be graduating with the 150 credit hours now required by most states for the CPA certification. Those who are successful in the second round, in-office interviews receive offers for full-time opportunities with the firm to begin the following fall after their graduation.
