How are you a champion for inclusion and equality?
As a Black leader, I am keenly aware of how many people look up to me within and outside the firm. I’m passionate about mentoring various minority groups and hope to spread the message of how young professionals can manifest their ambitions through self-advocacy, resilience and networking. I help promote senior level diverse talent in the financial services industry as a board member of the NYC based Equity Alliance. One of the hottest topics in the last year is health and wellness, and I’m a member of the board of trustees at one of Brooklyn’s oldest hospitals, the Brooklyn Hospital Center. One of the hospital’s mission is providing care to diverse communities in the greater New York area. I’m fortunate to be able to help steer that hospital’s mission.

How are you advancing the state of women?
I am actively involved in the Anchin’s women initiative network (AWIN), which helps support women and female clients at our firm. I think the number of women in financial services has to increase, and one solution is through recruiting, which I’ve always been involved in. The bigger issue is ensuring the promotion and retention of women in financial services. I try to be a resource to my network of female founders, leaders and women in general. I get advice requests on LinkedIn, social media etc., and I’m always responsive. I’m very well aware of how challenging it is to be a working mother. Even more so now, women also happen to bear the brunt of the pandemic, having to be caregivers to their families, households and maintaining their jobs.
