David Albrecht is a senior manager at Anchin with over 20 years of Tax Controversy experience. He handles federal and state tax controversies, representing individual and business clients at various stages of their controversy.
Earlier in his career, David was recruited from another professional services firm to work in the Criminal Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The experience he gained and the relationships he built while at the IRS give him the insight and expertise to make him an effective full time tax controversy expert. David works on between 75 – 100 crisis level controversy cases per year, the majority of which he settles out of court. He has saved clients hundreds of millions of dollars in assessments during his time at Anchin and has successfully negotiated with the IRS on tens of millions of dollars in penalty abatements across all industries Anchin serves.
David is a frequent speaker on tax controversy and IRS-related topics in the marketplace. He has presented for various organizations including the New York State Society of CPAs on topics such as “red flags for IRS audit,” “red flags for NY state sales tax audits” and “Issues with the NY DOL.” Internally, he brings his knowledge and expertise to Anchin via trainings on controversy topics.
