Best Practices for the Successful Design Firm

Overview
Failing to plan is the equivalent of planning to fail… Regardless of how talented a design firm may be, it is imperative to have an efficient business model and organizational structure if the firm is going to achieve and maintain success in the long run. The first portion of this program illustrates how to develop an overall plan for a firm’s financial and operational processes. The second portion focuses on holding on to skilled employees in what is perennially a tight labor market and strategies for sustaining the firm for successive generations of designers.

Program Objectives

  • Identify and implement better financial and operational practices on a firm-wide and project management basis.
  • Develop strategies to attract and retain talented employees.
  • Structure a contingency plan for emergencies and succession plans for principals.

Who Should Attend?
This program targets principals and CFOs of architectural, interior design and engineering firms.

CES and State License Credit
This course has been approved by the Architectural Institute of America (AIA) for 1.5 Learning Units of credit. As an AIA accredited program, attendees can also be awarded New York State credits towards their architectural, interior design or engineering licenses.
