Community Involvement

At Anchin we realize there is more to life than balance sheets and income statements. The partners and staff of Anchin are committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work. By volunteering within our communities, we not only help those in need, but we help build teamwork and morale within the firm.

We offer our employees a variety of ways to volunteer their time and make a difference in the community. We welcome suggestions from our employees on how to become more involved with the community. Our goal is to make giving fun!

Some of our most recent community efforts include:

ÔTis the Season for Giving at Regents Family Residence
Anchin employees were truly in the holiday spirit last December. Through the firm’s Toy Drive program, they helped bring joy to the kids by partnering with the Regents Family Residence.

The Regents Family Residence, located in Manhattan, provides transitional housing for 140 homeless families, offering comprehensive services to help them achieve independence and obtain permanent housing. The shelter offers services including counseling, housing assistance, life skills and parenting courses, childcare, and medical aid.

Holiday Meal at Harmony House
In November 2006, Anchin prepared and served a holiday meal to the residents of Harmony House. Each floor was spruced up with holiday decorations and two rooms were painted. The residents and staff were very grateful and appreciative of everyone's hard work and enjoyed our visit to their home. Anchin made a difference in the lives of those at Harmony House by giving back to the community and had fun doing it!

Volunteer Day at Webster House
In July 2006, Anchin participated in a volunteer event at Webster House in the Bronx. Over 20 Anchin partners and employees came out in the rain and gave their time to help clean up Webster House, which is home to 200 formerly homeless men and women who have a mental diagnosis, or have HIV/AIDS. The home helps these individuals become contributing members of society. Anchin volunteers spent the day beautifying the outdoor garden and surrounding landscape as well as painting the indoor stairwells. Anchin’s contribution helped brighten the lives of those who live and work at Webster House.

A Visit from Santa
In December 2005 Anchin generously donated gifts to children at a local shelter for domestic violence victims. Several partners and staff spent a day wrapping the gifts and delivering them to the shelter. The children were even greeted by “Santa” during the visit.

New York Cares Day
In October 2005, Anchin participated in the 14th annual New York Cares Day. Over 40 Anchin employees came out in the rain and gave their time to help clean up P.S.198, which was one of 110 schools within the five boroughs of New York City that participated in New York Cares Day program. Many of our volunteers made a difference by organizing supply closets, book rooms, and painting part of a cafeteria. Anchin’s contribution helped brighten the future for many of the students at P.S. 198.

Operation Backpack
In August 2005, the firm participated in Operation Backpack, an initiative through Volunteers of America, to benefit homeless children in the Greater New York area by outfitting them with backpacks full of new school supplies. Anchin donated 50 backpacks and collected 10 large boxes of supplies for the drive. Additionally, the firm sent nine volunteers to sort through all of the donated supplies from the firm and other participating companies.
